If we don't have sufficient funds by the middle of November (as we need time to organise the contractor to put them up) then the lights unfortunately won't go ahead this year and people will be refunded their money 😕

This Christmas, let’s light up Hurlford together.

For generations, the village Christmas lights have marked the start of something special — a little sparkle on the way home, excited children pointing up at the displays, and a reminder that, even in the darkest months, Hurlford is a community that looks after its own.

The lights are more than decorations. They bring neighbours together, welcome visitors, support local shops, and create those small festive moments that stay with us long after Christmas has passed.

Our estimated costs this year are £4,000–£4,500 to put the lights up and safely take them down again. They shine for just 4–6 weeks, but the joy, pride and festive spirit they bring to Hurlford lasts much longer.

This year, we have not been able to secure the funding that has helped us in previous years, making it extremely difficult to ensure the lights can be installed. We currently install 21 lights, at an approximate cost of £215 per light.

If you would like to sponsor a light in memory of someone special, to celebrate a special occasion, or simply to support your village, we will place a small sign to recognise your commitment.

If we do not meet our fundraising target, we will need to consider a reduced display, as the funding opportunities available in previous years are simply no longer there.

Whether you can give £2, £10, sponsor a light, or more, every donation will help us brighten the streets, lift spirits, and keep this much-loved tradition alive.
